Still dreaming up your next luxury Australian escape?
With a focus on domestic travel, my wonderful travel partners and I have been curating some Itinerary Inspiration for some of our favourite Australian destinations, and today it’s all about Tasmania!
World class walks and world-heritage wilderness, great golf and the great outdoors, romance and relaxation, unique and boutique, fishing and foodie getaways – it’s all right there on Australia’s island state.
This particular itinerary is a journey of Island Escapades and Escapes!
You will begin your island adventures at Hobart’s – Henry Jones Art Hotel.
Superbly located on the island state capital’s bustling waterfront, Australia’s first art hotel, is packed with personality.
During your stay, enjoy a full-day private tour to the scenically spectacular Maria Island, a natural wildlife sanctuary for wombats and wallabies, kangaroos and pademelons, beautiful birdlife and so much more. Wildlife, history and natural beauty abound.
Continue the wildlife adventures on Bruny Island, with an engaging program of guided touring and walks that showcase the island’s stunning scenery and introduce you to some of the curious local fauna.
Sample fresh local produce as you explore Bruny Island’s beautifully preserved natural environment.
Then really get away from it all, with a two-night stay on your own private island hideaway. Just a five-minute boat trip from Bruny Island, Satellite Island is a secluded 76-acre private hideaway in the pristine waters of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel.
Enjoy sublime seclusion, sleeping by the water’s edge, shucking oysters straight from the rocks. Fish from the jetty, feed the deer, watch the sunset across the Southern Ocean, stargaze to spot the Southern Lights; and enjoy freedom from all the cares of the outside world.
Then, return to Hobart by private helicopter.
Um, yeah! Sounds like heaven to me!

Perhaps a shorter, self-drive ‘Feast for your senses’ is more up your alley? This 4 night / 5 day experience features fresh air and fine food, beautiful waterways and breathtaking national parks…. What more could you ask for from a cheeky Tasmanian escape?
Start this Tasmanian getaway in historic Hobart. Tasmania’s harbour front capital showcases a rich heritage and a dynamic modern food scene.
Enjoy a two-night stay at MACq01, a stylish storytelling hotel on the city’s vibrant waterfront, only a short stroll from some of Hobart’s finest eateries and small-batch whisky distilleries, cafes, markets and wine bars.
During a full day cruise down the Derwent River and into the sheltered waters of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, gather the ingredients for a decadent seafood feast (freshly shucked oysters, abalone, rock lobster, sea urchin and salmon) accompanied by gourmet local produce, fine Tasmanian wines, local craft beers and apple ciders for a most memorable (and delicious) introduction to Australia’s island state.
Take to the road to continue your journey along Tasmania’s scenic East Coast. Explore Freycinet Peninsula’s breathtaking coastal views, spectacular bushland and popular hiking tracks at your own pace.
Soak up the scenery and serenity from your outdoor bath-tub on the deck of your stylish Coastal Pavilion at Freycinet Lodge, overlooking Great Oyster Bay and the rugged Hazards mountain range.
Enjoy a sampling of Tasmania’s finest handcrafted gins or a sensory journey through Tasmania’s iconic wine regions during your stay at the Lodge.
Surrounded by Freycinet National Park, you may choose to hike, bike, and kayak or cruise to explore the region’s untracked beaches and untamed bushland, from Cape Tourville Lighthouse to Wineglass Bay, before returning to either Launceston or Hobart for your departure home.
