Who doesn’t LOVE a cheeky domestic weekend away. How good is that feeling of clocking off on a Friday, and heading away to switch off, unwind, eat amazing food, and just…. breathe for a while. (Bliss!)
Finding the perfect spot for a weekend away, that is close to home, offers great dining experiences and still offers that level of luxury that you feel deserve (and trust me, you do!) can be tricky, but I’ve narrowed down the choices a little for you.
If you only have a few days to spare, here are some of my favourite Australian destination hotels that are just made for a 2 or 3 night stay with your lover, the girls or a small group of friends.
Enjoy!
Halcyon House, Cabarita (NSW)
Located on the North NSW Coast, near Byron Bay, Halcyon House is the epitome of Luxe, Surf, Chic!
With great surf beaches that stretch along the coast for miles, signature dining at the beautiful Paper Daisy Restaurant, a stunning day spa, a poolside scene that would rival any in Capri, and décor that is to die for, what’s not to love!
You could also venture from here into Byron Bay for the day (which is just a 40 min drive away), or settle in, disconnect and soak up the sunshine. Either way, a couple of days here will have you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, ready to take on the world.

Located on the Mornington Peninsula (Victoria, Australia), JACKALOPE is a luxury boutique property that has people talking, and it’s easy to see why.
Glamour, sophistication and killer style seems to be the theme, all whilst nestled among manicured grapevines, and offering a destination hotel like no other.
Made up of 46 luxury rooms, a 30-metre infinity pool, art commissions and installations, destination dining, and an on-property winery and cellar door – a conceptual approach to art, design, dining, and storytelling comes to life through boldly curated installations and collaborations with a collection of Australia’s principal designers.
With not one but two destination dining options, Jackalope offers immersive wine and culinary experiences: Doot Doot Doot, presents sumptuous tasting menus with dishes intrinsically linked to the land; while winery restaurant and wine bar, Rare Hare, celebrates the region’s winemaking roots and serves up the best of the Peninsula’s wines, food, pastoral pleasures, and blissful vineyard views.

The Henry Jones Hotel, Hobart (TAS)
Hobart is SUCH a great city for a few days away. With local experiences such as MONA the Museum of Old and New Art, Salamanca Markets, Hiking trails on Mt Wellington and much more, it’s the perfect city for a weekend away, where you can to enjoy all of this, in conjunction with fine wine, fabulous dining experiences, modern art and the historic tales of the region.
At the Henry Jones Art Hotel history and art collide. Hobart’s oldest waterfront warehouses have been thoughtfully reimagined as Australia’s first dedicated art hotel. Located in the Hunter Street precinct, the hotel blends modernity with an industrial past. Decadent elliptical spas bubble underneath rough-sawn timber trusses. Blackwood-lined boardrooms have been refashioned into stately, indulgent suites.
